Colored Diamond Values Question:

Hello, last week I found a 1.34Ct rootbeer colored diamond, cubic in shape with slight valley like fissures.

Stone reflects metallic with rootbeer flashes.

Would a stone such as this have a higher value to a collector, or to have, "someone professional?" evaluate it?

It is really an attractive stone.

Answer:

G'day Alan and many thanks for your query

However I don't know what you mean?

I am assuming you have been fossicking in the outback, and as you said "Found a 1.34Ct rootbeer coloured diamond" Wow...!

As a Gemmologist/Valuer we only see the finished product - not an item straight from the ground.

I assume again (maybe I'm wrong) that you are referring to the colour.

This sounds more like a Champagne colour (better known as an 'Argyle' diamond).

Topaz Values Question:

I recently purchased an “Imperial” topaz gem from H. Stern in Brazil for a significant amount of money.

Upon returning to Canada and getting it appraised I found out that it (apparently) is pink/precious topaz.

The appraisal was a bit lower ($500 Canadian less) than what I bought it for, but still in the same ballpark.
