About Us:

David and Patricia have been involved in the Antique Jewellery Industry for over 35 years, both in Australia and previously in the UK.

Before retiring (or so he thought) David owned three Jewellery Retail outlets and is a qualified Gemologist and former member of the Valuers Council.

He also taught Gemology at Wollongong Technical and Further Education College, and trained students at Wollongong University and other local institutions.

His passion is writing and is a National Award winning author.

Now very much involved in the development of software for Valuation Appraisal programs, together with his wife Patricia (as an experienced Taxation Consultant she runs the business) and his son Chris, a fastidious Manufacturing Jeweler in his own right, they have brought their special skills and talents to the Internet.

Topaz Values Question:

I recently purchased an “Imperial” topaz gem from H. Stern in Brazil for a significant amount of money.

Upon returning to Canada and getting it appraised I found out that it (apparently) is pink/precious topaz.

The appraisal was a bit lower ($500 Canadian less) than what I bought it for, but still in the same ballpark.

Identification of Cat’s Eyes Question:

Greetings from Australia.

I have inherited what I thought was cat eyes jewellery but I find they look nothing like the images on google.

My cats eyes are round, dime-size and have a eyeball look about them.

Colored Diamond Values Question:

Hello, last week I found a 1.34Ct rootbeer colored diamond, cubic in shape with slight valley like fissures.

Stone reflects metallic with rootbeer flashes.

Would a stone such as this have a higher value to a collector, or to have, “someone professional?” evaluate it?
